1. A4 Size White Paper

Firstly, get an A4 size white paper. They are easy to get in bookstores and manga bookshops. You can either get a drawing block which if you can remember drawing as a kid during school days or pieces of paper packaged together.

Although Japanese started out drawing on card boards, you do not need to start that way since paper is available in abundance. I suggest having at least 4-5 drawing blocks of A4 size white paper.

2. Markers, Pencils, Poster Colors And Rulers

This are the other set of essential tools you need to have.

For markers, I recommend Pilot Drawing Pens with the tip thickness of about 0.2mm. Though there are other markers, this is what I used frequently as they are always available and hence easier to obtain from my local bookstores be it in towns or cities.

But do not draw with markers right away. Instead trace them after you have done pencil sketches.

For pencils, I highly recommend mechanical ones. Though they cost more with separate supplies of pencil leads, they are well worth the price as conventional pencils and sharpeners may not always complement each other in creating quality drawings.

To add color to your drawings, get both colored pencils and poster colors if you have to with filler trays, thin and thick brushes.

For rulers, get both short and long ones. The short is for drawing smaller objects like swords, rifles, knives, guitars, guns and boxes while the long is for designing ships, robots, cars and battlecruisers.

3. DVD, Comic And Magazines

Although those costs money, they are still the essential tools you need to create a great story with great drawings.

Unless you are a creative storyteller and artiste by nature, you need an abundant collection of manga dvds, comics and magazines for both inspiration and creating a mental mindmap in remembering the manga characters’ most common features, expressions and characteristics.

Drawing a flipbook animation that involves human movement requires several steps before producing a quality cartoon animation. Similar to human posture drawing, human animation first starts with drawing the skeleton poses, followed by the volume and eventually the flesh. Drawing the volume of a human can be skipped provided the artist is familiar with human muscle drawing.

The rationale behind drawing the skeleton first in animation is to serve as a preview of the action. Take for example a 5 seconds animation which will be played at 25 frames per second (fps), the artist will need to draw 125 frames of drawing. Without the skeleton animation to act as a preview, any changes half way along the production will requires a lot of time to redraw, thus reduces in production efficiency. Once the animation is drawn in skeleton, it should be reviewed by the artist and the director to be sure that this animation and motion looks close to the end results.

In this video, I’m going to animate this bovine casting a fireball, similar to the game called Street Fighter. The bovine will store his energy by his waist and eventually releasing the power in front of him, shooting a fireball outward. Begin the animation with a neutral pose, this serves as a proportion guide for the character. When in doubt during the animation process, do refer back to the neutral pose to check if the character’s proportion is consistent.

A person looking to launch a career in modeling can do so by registering and attending free modeling auditions. Many modeling agencies have come up in the recent past that offer these services to aspiring models. The agencies have an online application forms that participants have to fill. The forms differ according to the agencies, but some of the commonly asked questions are the model’s name, their address, and their contact information. A brief description of yourself is also required, that is: the hair color, your height and weight, the eye colors, any birthmarks and your unique features. The completed forms should then be submitted to the agency. The model’s portfolio pictures should go with it.

Participants are given professional advice during the auditions. The models are told about their strong and weak points and the areas to improve. For first time models, they are told the different modeling types such as commercial, fashion, body part, nude and web modeling. They are also helped to choose the modeling type they best suit. Advice on the different posing styles is given. Posing tips for the different modeling types are also given, since they differ. The person is advised on the best foods and diet to take to stay healthy. She is also given tips to look out for when choosing an agency. However, this only happens when there are no agencies to sign up the model during the audition for models.

There are many different strategies that work for encouraging your child to practice and for instilling quality practice habits.

Have a scheduled practice time

One of the best ways to provide structure for your child’s practicing is to have a scheduled practice time. If a child knows that at a certain time of the day they are supposed to practice they will come to expect it and also know what is expected from him/her. How often should your child be practicing? Ideally, it is best for them to be practicing on a daily basis, or at the very least 5 days a week. This helps the student to become familiar with the material and also to be prepared for their next session with their piano instructor. It also allows for enough time throughout the week to reinforce the concepts that were taught by the instructor in the previous session.

Set a timer

This one really works well, especially with young children. Most of the students that are successful at practicing use a timer or focus on practicing for a certain amount of time. This adds additional structure to the practice sessions. Students tend to play through their pieces more times when a timer is set than without it. It is important to make sure that a silent timer is used as to not distract from the rhythm of the pieces that the student is playing or interfere with the student’s concentration.

Utilize rewards

A reward system can be a powerful motivator for children of all ages. It is not necessary to purchase extravagant prizes for your children. In fact, simple rewards such as letting them have a special meal, taking a trip to a park, allowing them to have a sleepover, letting them bake cookies, etc., can be strong motivators for children. Sometimes even inexpensive stickers work with younger children. Choose something that your particular child would consider to be a special reward and continue with whatever works for them.

ALWAYS give praise and encouragement for practicing

Every time that your child practices with a good attitude, make sure to praise them for making this choice. This helps them to associate their good attitude for practicing with receiving the reward of having your praise. They will come to realize what is expected from them and understand that if they meet your expectations that they will receive your praise and approval for their practicing. This also helps to improve their self confidence in playing the piano.

Encourage them to include pieces that are fun

Playing the piano should be enjoyable. One of the ways to encourage children to play is to make sure that they can play some pieces that they really enjoy playing. Encourage them to choose a piece or two that they like to play as a warm up for each practice session. They can play these fun pieces before playing their assigned pieces. This will allow them to spend some time enjoying the piano as well as warming up for the real practice time.

As a magician, public speaker or performer, some may suffer the feeling of sickness in our stomach before an important presentation or performance. We also know how excessive pressure can undermine our ability to perform and be professional in these situations.

For your next event, it is worth preparing a Performance Plan. This is a pre-prepared plan that helps you to deal effectively with any problems or distractions that can occur, and perform in a more relaxed, positive and focused frame of mind. A performance plan will help you to prepare for your next important performance. It will help you prepare for practical contingencies with mental preparation to ensure that you are fully prepared to handle any situation that may realistically occur.

Allow enough in advance to sort out any practical problems. List all of the physical and mental steps that you need to take to:

Prepare and check your equipment, and repair or replace it where it does not work;

Make travel arrangements;

Pack your equipment and luggage;

Travel to the site of your performance;

Set up equipment;

Wait and prepare for your performance; and

Deliver your performance.
